On 23 April, as part of Germany’s Girls’Day, young female students from different high schools visited the laser lab of TU Dresden to explore the world of advanced manufacturing. During the visit, the possibilities of laser surface structuring were demonstrated, giving the students a hands‑on insight into cutting‑edge research and industrial applications. OPeraTIC was also presented, showing how innovative laser technologies can shape modern, smart and sustainable manufacturing.

Girls’Day is a nationwide initiative in Germany where companies, universities and research institutions open their doors to schoolgirls to introduce them to careers in STEM fields, where women are still underrepresented. The aim is to break stereotypes, broaden career choices and encourage girls to discover their interests and talents through real‑world experiences in science and technology.
