On 28 October 2026, we celebrated the OPeraTIC final event as part of the Ultrashort Pulse Laser Microfabrication Event: Shaping the Future of Manufacturing, together with FABulous and METAMORPHA at the AIMEN International Laser Week.

OPeraTIC presentations highlighted the challenges of upscaling laser surface microstructuring, our novel optical chain for large-area surface engineering, and the role of human agency in AI-powered industry. During the round table, experts from OPeraTIC and the other projects discussed how advanced laser technologies can move from design to manufacture, including industrial adoption, AI, sustainability and the needs of different end users.

A special highlight followed in the lab: for the first time, the final integrated OPeraTIC machine was presented to an external audience! Samples manufactured on site were shown, bringing the project’s developments to life.
